Beneath The Beautiful

Sunday morning, off to church we go. Pretty shoes, latest clothes, sharpest suites and the best of fragrances. Every flaw hidden, all the guilt tucked away all in order to present a pretty and blissful front. In biblical days it was so easy to spot someone that was bereaved,  saddened, depressed, or widowed. They would all dress up in sackcloth and ashes, so it was clearly apparent that they had a problem. It would have been easier for Christians to spot each other's need and therefore minister to one another accordingly.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that we go back to those ways, but that we as Christians toady, become more sensitive to the prompting of the holy spirit. Do not let the pretty, strong, well put together exterior put you off, from ministering as the holy spirit directs. For instance, you could be in the presence of an upbeat cheerful person, always the one doing meet and greet in church, because of how cheerful they appear, but yet you feel an intense sense of sadness within, when they are around you. The sadness you are feeling, is truly how they are feeling inside. The way the holy spirit has thought me to deal with this is by asking myself 'what would you like done,if you were feeling this way?' If your answer is word of encouragement, a visit, a hug, money etc.... then that is what they need.

You could be led to give brother A £20, and you drive like a 1998 nissan micra and he is driving the latest BMW, and you maybe thinking to yourself  'eerm God, shouldn't it be the other way round? In fact God you should instruct him to sell his car and give me the proceeds' That would of course be reasonable. But what you do not know is that brother A asked God for that act to be a sign to show that God loves him, and in turn he'll give his entire life to Him. Brother A asked for £20 as a sign, because the money was insignificant in his millionaire mind.

Let us be attune with the holy spirit and to each other's needs. This song  below encapsulates my point perfectly.
