Is every gospel artist a Christian?

The title of this post may seem strange to you but it is a question I have often considered. Especially when people ask me 'So how do you describe your music?' in reference to genre. At first I was so afraid of describing myself as a 'gospel' singer, because I didn't feel worthy or perfect enough. How ironic when I was not even saved on merit but by God's goodness. And is it not every believer's responsibility to proclaim the good news(gospel) both in word and in act.  If every one of the great men/women who did great exploits for God in the bible let this said feeling to overcome them, will the words we so esteem in the holy pages today be but mere paper? Isn't it funny how the devil(through people) can have our conceptions twisted?

To the listeners, the promoters, mangers et al, every song that has 'Jesus' in it or makes hint or a reference to God is 'gospel.' Anyone can write songs about God and  not mean it, the same way a pastor can preach but not practice what he preaches. Those that are true followers of Christ know how to discern. I mean real discernment (Mat 2:16-20) not those that are constantly trying to use people's past mistakes as evidence of their inadequacy.

The personal conclusion I have come to on this is that....
One may write and sing songs that direct people to God( irrespective of motive), and people may in turn through your songs(if you be so privilege) seek the Lord and be saved. But if you fail to connect with the name you proclaim, you do nobody a disservice but yourself.

Why do bad things happen to good people?

Why do bad things happen to good people?
That infamous question. You know, the one that comes up when something unfortunate happens to you or someone close to you. Well the answer is,there are no 'good people.' Even a serial killer considers himself good at heart. According to Proverbs 21:2- 'Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.' Even Jesus further proves my said point in Mark 10:18- 'Why do you call me good? No one is good, but One,that is God.'

I know it is difficult  to see yourself as 'not good', but knowing this fact allows you to open yourself to one who really is. Jehovah God, he, and only he, is good.  Now I suppose  the cousin question to the first question may instantly come to mind...If God is good, why all the evil in the world?

Perhaps the evil in the world is due to the fact that we(human beings) are inherently evil, we use our free will to deny God and do evil. We war against each other, we kill, we envy, the list goes on... Instead of blaming God for the all the ills in the world, turn to him;let him change you;let him give you a new heart, a re-birth if you may. ;-)

The Process

It is not how gifted  or talented you are but it is by the grace of God you excel.  Moses was not picked by how articulate he was, neither was Joshua selected on the basis of his swagger. God is more concerned by the inner man,the character. That is why he takes his time to mold you and teach you, because talent can only take you so far.

Any wonder why the devil takes the most deviant of people and promotes them. The flashier, the more eccentric, the better. Could it be because he also understands that your talent is what attracts people to you, and your character or lack of it, is what people in turn copy due to the razzmatazz of your talent.

If  all the rich men were rude and aggressive, any young man desiring to be rich will attribute these qualities as a must for success. If all the pop starts, were half naked, devil worshipers, any young upcoming starlet will emulate them for aforementioned reasons.

So if you truly believe and trust in God, let him work on (and in) you, let him perfect your character each day, so that when your talent and hard work start bringing inevitable attention, God will be able to take the glory.
