If like me, you've recently had a baby, or you've just put on a few pounds over the festive period-then you'll know that the struggle to get back into shape is REAL.
So what is this 'afro thingy' I speak of? Well, so goes the story....
I have been doing some home work out videos here and there to get into shape after having the first lady. That is how I came across Afrifitness- an afro beat interval training workout.
Yesterday, came time to make this love affair public. Off I went to Husky studios in London, to see what the lady behind this innovative fitness movement, Rachael Okesola had in store. Was I ready to move from dancing along in the privacy of my own home for half an hour to joining a group of people (who in my mind were going to all be fitness gurus) for trice the duration? Well, I was set on finding out and find out I did.
In all sincerity I can say that the session was enjoyable, and I made it through the vigorous routine without passing out. :-) It didn't feel like a workout to be honest,as I was taken away by the rhythmic music and eclectic dance moves. Rachael's enthusiasm and energy was infectious, the ladies were as varied in cultural backgrounds as they were in fitness levels. The oldest attendee was 65 year old-the lady gave us all enough inspiration to last a decade.
The next session of this fitness awesomness is taking place next month. I suppose that is my only qualms with it. It should be weekly not monthly!
Will I be attending the next session? Only if you'll join me.
